Fall 2008- Winter 2009 Catalog Supplement in PDF format:
Preface to the supplement:
For many of us, autumn marks the start of a new academic year. Echoing the calls of Stephen Kellert, Richard Louv, David Sobel and others, we seek opportunities to take learning outdoors, encouraging exploration and understanding of the natural world. There are several compelling reasons why being outdoors is so important—obvious health benefits aside, new research shows that such exposure can ease attention disorders and depression, enhance academic performance, and develop wise thinkers who can make thoughtful decisions about complex issues.
For some organisms, autumn is the time to prepare for hibernation. For others, it can be a time of awakening. Revitalized after summer (or simply recovering from summer adventures) interpreters, educators and parents can equip themselves with new ideas and resources for the trail and classroom. With renewed commitment, we venture outdoors and let the excitement of experiential learning begin.
